Thank you for your interest! We are currently open to all submissions.
Bracken is looking for short fiction (under 2500 words), poetry, and art that fit the aesthetic of the magazine. Before you submit, please familiarize yourself with what we publish by reading our past issues. To find out what our editors want, read Amy Lee Lillard's editorial notes on our latest blog, as well as interviews with Alina Rios and Jed Myers (part 1 and part 2) .
Bracken supports diversity in speculative fiction and welcomes stories by and about individuals of all ages, classes, disabilities, ethnicities, genders, nationalities, races, religions, and sexual orientations.
Bracken purchases first worldwide English-language serial and electronic rights. Each story or poem we acquire will be published on brackenmagazine.com in an electronic quarterly issue. We may also excerpt stories and poems for promotional purposes. The author retains all other rights.
We pay $0.04/word for fiction ($50 minimum), $15 for a poem, and a negotiated rate for covers. We don't currently pay for featured art.
